Monica Ma.

I'm a Registered Psychologist (AHPRA Reg #PSY0002701499) based in Sydney, currently completing the Clinical Psychology Registrar program at a Sydney teaching hospital mental health service. My practice focuses on adults presenting with anxiety, mood, and stress-related conditions, delivered by telehealth across Australia.
I trained at UNSW: a Master of Psychology (Clinical) and a First-Class Honours degree in Psychological Science. My prior clinical placements include the Anxiety Treatment and Research Unit (Western Sydney Local Health District), child, adolescent and family mental health at Sydney Local Health District, and the UNSW Psychology Clinic. Earlier crisis work with Lifeline Australia informs how I think about safety and risk in current practice.
Before psychology, I worked in corporate consulting at KPMG (Deals, Tax and Legal). That background informs the practice's focus on chronic work stress and occupational burnout. I have first-hand familiarity with the professional services environments in which those presentations commonly develop.
My approach to treatment is structured, evidence-based, and collaborative. Each treatment plan is individualised to your presenting concerns, history and goals, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and the Unified Protocol for transdiagnostic emotional disorders. I monitor progress using standardised outcome measures throughout the course of therapy.
