Treatment for anxiety disorders.
For adults experiencing generalised anxiety, panic, social anxiety, health anxiety, or perfectionism that interferes with daily functioning.
Anxiety disorders are among the most common presenting concerns in psychological practice, and among the most responsive to structured, evidence-based treatment. Treatment is individualised to your presentation and developed collaboratively, with clear methods for modifying the avoidance and safety behaviours that maintain difficulty.
Presentations commonly treated
- Generalised anxiety and chronic worry
- Panic attacks and panic disorder
- Social anxiety
- Health anxiety
- Perfectionism and over-functioning
- Anxiety co-occurring with low mood
How the work is structured
The first session involves a comprehensive clinical assessment to identify the maintaining factors and to develop a shared formulation. From session two onwards, treatment typically draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, individualised to your context, with between-session practice we plan together. Structured treatment is typically delivered over 6 to 12 sessions.
Why telehealth is appropriate for anxiety
For many anxiety presentations, in-person attendance can itself constitute a barrier to engagement. Online consultations can remove that practical barrier to attending consistently. Internet-delivered CBT for anxiety has a substantial randomised evidence base demonstrating outcomes comparable to face-to-face therapy.
